Understanding your menstrual cycle
By SRH Program LeadJune 2, 20264 min read
If your cycle feels like a mystery, you're not alone. Most young people are never really taught what's happening in their bodies month to month — just told to 'deal with it' when it arrives.
A typical cycle runs anywhere from 21 to 35 days, and it's normal for it to vary, especially in your first few years of having periods. Tracking it — even loosely — can help you understand your own rhythm instead of feeling caught off guard.
Our Menstrual Tracking Calendar makes this easier: log your cycle privately, spot patterns over time, and get a general sense of when your next period might arrive.
If your cycle is extremely irregular, unusually painful, or missing for several months, that's worth mentioning to a health professional — not because something is automatically wrong, but because your comfort matters, and there's often something that can help.
